District/Territory Sales Manager - Northern California

Job Summary:

As a key member of the Sales team, the DSM is responsible for achieving sales goals and for implementation of sales strategy to ensure productivity and profitability of the district and organization.  The individual in this position must be highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Travels (30% with overnight travel) throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, demonstrate products, using samples or catalog while emphasizing sales features
  • On a daily basis, builds relationships with customers and keeps them informed of Tropical’s new products and systems
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems and finding solutions
  • Develops new business opportunities through distribution channels, contractors, architects, specifiers and consultants, targeting high potential customers
  • Creates a strategy to grow the territory by building long term customer relationships within the roofing industry
  • Coordinates customer training
  • Attends and works trade shows
  • Performs other duties necessary to achieve company objectives



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in the building construction industry, preferably the roofing industry


    Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management
  • Supervisory or management experience, preferably in sales
